Building Careers in the Skilled Trades
for Métis Apprentices

The Voyageur Trades Program supports Métis citizens in Alberta who are ready to take the next step in the skilled trades.

If you’ve completed pre-apprenticeship training — or have started your path — this program helps you gain the hands-on experience and hours you need to move forward. You’ll work alongside Red Seal Journeypersons, build real skills on real job sites, and be part of projects that support Métis communities.

Real Work.
Real Impact.

In this program, learning takes place in more than a classroom — it happens on real projects.

Apprentices contribute to projects that support Métis citizens, organizations and non-profit organizations. Every project is an opportunity to learn and to give back.

A MESSAGE FROM RUPERTSLAND INSTITUTE
“Trades have always been part of our history. This program builds on that – creating opportunities that connect tradition with long-term careers. Our goal is simple: help Métis people build the skills and confidence they need to step into lasting, meaningful employment.”

Guided by Experience

You’re not learning on your own — you’re learning from people who’ve built their careers in the trades and care about helping you get to the next level.
Chris Sawchuk
“I didn’t always have that guidance starting out, so I want to make sure others don’t have to go through the same challenges. Everyone starts somewhere and I want theapprentices to feel like they can go out there and hold their own.”

- Chris Sawchuk, Mentor, Plumber
François Forestier
“This program gives people a real head start. The kind of training and support here can change the trajectory of someone’s life.”

- François Forestier, Mentor, Electrician
